We Invite You to Treat Yourself Right

Happy Belly Health steered me in the right direction and kept reminding me of how unique my body is. What may work for others won’t necessarily work for me, and I have to respect that.

How to Build a Better Body Image

When it comes to body image, nothing is more important than learning to love and respect yourself. And sometimes, you just gotta fake it till ya’ make it. In this last of our 5-series newsletter on body image, we’d like to invite you to pamper yourself a little bit.

Point #5: Treat Yourself Like the Beautiful Being You Truly Are

Here are some of the best ways we know of to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.

Sleep
Are you getting enough sleep? If you’re like most people, probably not. Here’s a good tip: try to go to bed early enough so that you wake up before your alarm goes off at least 90 percent of the time. One helpful way to fall asleep earlier is to avoid screens at least a full hour before your target bedtime—not just TV but your smartphone, tablet, or any other type of screen that emits full-spectrum light exposure, which is confusing to your system.

Me Time
This one is doctor’s orders. It can be challenging to get enough “me time,” especially if you have a hectic job, a family, or just pets that need a lot of TLC. But carving out time in your schedule to simply be alone and do things for yourself is crucial—whether it’s taking a brisk walk after dinner or simply reading alone in bed at night.

Pamper Yourself
Treat your body like you love it, like it’s the most beautiful thing you know (hint: it is). When you mistreat your body with too much wine, by skipping meals, by gorging on sweets, and even over or under-exercise, you are in dangerous territory. Instead of jumping on the diet bandwagon or logging extra hours at the gym, pay tribute to your body by spending some relaxing time pampering yourself. Your body is working hard for you; say thank you. You’ll never regret spending your time this way.
