We Love You Just the Way You Are

As someone who struggled with body image and unhealthy eating habits, I’m in a better place now then I ever thought possible. It’s still something I have to be mindful of every single day, but having the key insights that Happy Belly Health provided me has made all the difference.  Gina S., Los Angeles

How to Build a Better Body Image

A lot of our clients come to us asking for help fixing themselves, and that makes us cringe, because finding your ideal body size should not be about “fixing what’s wrong,” but instead about becoming the healthiest version of you—regardless of how much body fat that entails.

Still, body image is a big issue for a lot of people, so we take it seriously. In this series of five newsletters, we’ll address the great divide between how we think we “should be” and what’s actually healthy and possible for each of us.

Point #1: It’s Good If It Feels Good (Your Body, that Is)

Being happy with your body is about feeling good, having energy, and being healthy. And that’s what we want for you. But what’s right for your body might be different than what’s right for another person’s. Creating your own optimal eating, exercising, and general lifestyle habits means learning more about food, your body, and how the two work together.

That said, there are some general guidelines that seem to work for most people, and they include:

  • Cutting waaaaay down on all flours, sugars, and sugar substitutes (eliminating them entirely if possible). Replace with more nutrient-dense, filling foods.
  • Front-loading your eating with a breakfast that contains ample healthy proteins and fats… then eating less later in the day. Skipping breakfast or having too much of a “diety” meal won’t work in the long run.
  • Balancing what you put on your plate at every meal, including a generous helping of green leafy vegetables
  • Drinking lots of plain water—and a lot less caffeine

Maybe you already know this stuff. Maybe you’re already even doing some of it. But if you want a helping hand, and a lot more detail, we invite you to join us in our Curb Your Cravings Program. More info below on that, and stay tuned for the next email in this series, coming soon!
