Let\u2019s explore why.<\/p><h3>What is Anemia?<\/h3><ul><li><strong>Common Condition:<\/strong> Anemia is widespread, and before jumping into iron supplements (which can cause imbalances and discomfort, like constipation), it&#8217;s worth focusing on enhancing iron absorption from food.<\/li><li><strong><strong>Causes of Anemia:<\/strong><\/strong><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Blood loss<\/li><li>Poor absorption due to low stomach acid<\/li><li>Deficiency in B12 and\/or Folate, which helps red blood cells fit into capillaries for good circulation<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><h3>The Role of Iron in Your Body<\/h3><ul><li><strong>Oxygen Transportation:<\/strong> Iron is responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body via blood. When anemic, your body is essentially starved of oxygen, leading to exhaustion.<\/li><\/ul><h3>Types of Iron<\/h3><ul><li><strong>Heme Iron:<\/strong> Found in animal proteins like shellfish, chicken, beef, etc. It\u2019s more easily absorbed by the body.<\/li><li><strong>Non-Heme Iron:<\/strong> Found in plants like spinach and beans.
