Note that \u201cwheat-free\u201d does not mean \u201cgluten- free\u201d as there are many other gluten-containing grains you will want to avoid.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The following is a list of gluten-containing grains:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li>Wheat<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Barley<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Rye<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Farina<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Graham flour<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Semolina<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Durham<\/li>\n<p><\/p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li>Bulgur<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Kamut<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Kashi (multi-grain blend)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Matzo meal<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Spelt (a form of wheat)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Triticale\n<br><br><\/li>\n<p><\/p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Though sometimes confused with gluten foods, the following are fine to eat for elimination.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>If you have Celiac Disease or strong gluten reactions, it is recommended that you look for a certified gluten-free confirmation on the label, indicating no\/low risk of cross-contamination during food manufacturing. \u201cMade on equipment shared with wheat\u201d has a high risk of cross-contamination.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rice, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat (aka kasha)<\/li>\n<li>Quinoa (though could be reactive for Celiacs)<\/li>\n<li>Teff<\/li>\n<li>Corn, cornmeal, and grits (make sure organic)<\/li>\n<li>Soy (make sure organic)<\/li>\n<li>Potatoes (all types)<\/li>\n<li>Wine and distilled liquors, ciders and spirits<\/li>\n<li>Garbanzo and other bean\/legume flours<br><br><\/li>\n<li>Oats (make sure they are labeled \u201cgluten-free\u201d as many oat products are contaminated with wheat during manufacturing\/processing)<br><br><\/li>\n<li>Potato and tapioca starch (though I do not recommend these for regular consumption as they are very high-glycemic and can aggressively spike blood sugar)\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>In general, avoid any processed food ingredient that includes the word \u201cwheat.\u201d <\/strong>Unfortunately, many processed foods use preservatives or additives for texture that include gluten, but they can be hidden from you. <br><br>In particular, this means you will need to avoid almost all baked goods unless they are specifically labeled gluten-free.To help you to be diligent in your elimination, here are some particular foods and gluten sources to be wary of &#8211; be sure to read their ingredient labels carefully:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li>Breads, rolls, and tortillas<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Breading for all fried foods<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Cereals, pasta, and noodles<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Crackers and chips (besides corn and potato, nearly all \u201cmultigrain\u201d options include wheat)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Croutons<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Cookies, cakes, pastries, and pies<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Soups and gravies<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Tabbouli<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Sauces (including soy sauce unless gluten-free)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Salad dressings<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Coffee creamer<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Beer<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Flavored coffee and tea, especially mixes<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Stuffing<\/li>\n<p><\/p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li>Bouillon and stocks<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Spice and marinade mixes and any pre-seasoned meat items (especially a key risk at restaurants)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Baking soda and baking powder<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Artificial butter flavor<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Candy<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Imitation meat or seafood<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Sausages and other preserved meats<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Processed luncheon meats<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Self-basting poultry<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Medications &amp; vitamins (gluten as binding agent)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Lipstick and lip balms<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Toothpaste<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Postage stamps and mailing envelope adhesive<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Play dough<br><br><\/li>\n<p><\/p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Food additives you will want to avoid include the following:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Bran, malt, malt flavoring, gelatinized starch, germ, artificial flavoring, natural flavoring, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, modified food starch, modified starch, vegetable starch, rice syrup (unless specifically labeled gluten-free), monosodium glutamate (MSG), caramel coloring.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-aa98fdc elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"aa98fdc\"
