12 Tips During Poor Air Quality

A city covered in smog. Here are ways to keep healthy with poor air quality.

The team at Happy Belly Health wants all Bay Area and California clients to stay healthy this weekend whilst air quality is getting worse from smoke created by devastating fires.

12 Tips to Boost Your Health During Poor Air Quality

  1. Wear a proper mask when outdoors (N95 Valved Respirator Mask)
  2. Ensure you have a good air filter / purifier indoors and ideally a humidifier too (great to sleep with)
  3. An essential oil diffuser for lavender or peppermint can be helpful
  4. A fan can help move stagnant air around in your home and offer a refreshing breeze
  5. Get out of town to areas of cleaner air this weekend if you can (be sure to follow winds as they can turn and send smoke in different directions)
  6. Keep your immune system up by drinking organic immunity teas by Traditional Medicinals and grass-fed / organic bone broth
  7. Eat fermented foods like organic kraut to support the immune system
  8. Eat an antioxidant rich plant-based diet to fight excess free radicals which damage cells in the body. Fill your plate with colorful veggies
  9. Enjoy anti-inflammatory Wild Alaskan Salmon (rich in omega 3 fatty acids)
  10. Take Vitamin D3 with a meal (since you won’t be getting sunshine outside)
  11. Sleep as much as you can at night (early bedtime,no alarms, dark room, and sleep in if your body wants to)
  12. Eat liver detoxifying cruciferous veggies (think cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, arugula and brussel sprouts etc.) Eat any chlorophyll rich dark leafy greens (which clean the blood and oxygenates cells)
